Will contact APRL tomorrow am to see if a copy of the article is available. If so, will post link to SCF. Assuming this is permissible. Much appreciated.... |

Tongman65 and rod222 - thanks for the confirmation - 9d , my eyes must have glazed over - right there in front of me! What a variety of shades once again. This must be a characteristic of the era/location for these states.... In ref to laid paper vs wove and other varieties, was there much less printed on Laid? Any ideas of a proportion? Finally id'd the 1st one I can see, Scott no. 1 for Travancore
PS - yes but 9d calls for handmade Wove paper. This doesnt look like Wove paper? |

Does not appear the APRL has a copy of the desired article.
Believe "The Philatelic Advisor" was a periodic newsletter produced in/ around Cheltenham, England until the mid 1960s.
As a result of this morning's APRL research came across another resource of possible interest: "Forgeries of the Feudatory States of India — Part 2 (Charkhari - Jasdan)". Robert Lowe. "First Issues" (July - Sept 2009). The

Rod222...
Thx for sharing all the .75 chukram shades.
The variety of stamp sizes is something of which I was previously unaware.

Ok, I guess I've been reading the catalogue wrong?!? I thought you follow the bold headings description until a new bold heading. Looks to me that 9d is under Handmade Wove then Machine-made starts 8A and on.... Tks |

So the listing has changed from my 2019 cat. Here is current from Amos. But I still think the machine made paper should have moved up with the 43a Wmk. 011221 - UPDATE: The 2021 Scott screen capture below is incorrect and to be updated next issue. The correct version SHOULD have Machine-made Paper moved up with Wmk. 43A according to Amos Publishing. |
