What government monopoly?...
I do not see the next generation of postal systems as a disparate group of inefficient and costly government organizations, it is the internet.
And while the internet is currently 'owned' as a diverse network infrastructure the primary backbone continues to be consolidated and controlled at many levels by several Big Tech companies. The last US election clearly illustrated the power of informational control by Big Tech.
Here in this community we love to hate
ebay as the 800 pound gorilla but in the meantime the real King Kong's (Google,
Amazon, and a handful of others) companies have taken over the IT world. They are not beholden to any single country and domestic tribal politics only matter to them as a means to an end. They will control the flow of content and information in our lives (and already do to a very large extent). If a country, company, or any other entity is not favorable to the Big Tech giants, they have the option of cutting them out of the internet.
The independent government postal systems that we know today are transforming into a group of worldwide parcel delivery services and have less to do with the flow of information.
