Just noticed the scratches in this example of scott 143. I don't have a copy of the scott catalogue that covers colonial Senegal. Does Scott or anyone else for that matter mention this error? I've found a couple other examples online.
Thanks

No, Scott doesn't list it, but they usually don't do these types of minor varieties. Y&T might, or one of the other French specialized.

There is no mention of any varieties in my 2020 Scott Classic for 143.

Nothing in Maury, either.

It seems that French colonial plate flaws are not as well-documented as those in the German area.

Just checked Yvert Classics of the World and nothing there either. Surprising that there is so little about varieties, errors etc on French colony stuff?

Varieties are listed, but there's clearly less interest in trivia of this kind. Different collecting focuses.

Phillystamper, if you have access to those other images you found and they are not with copyright, could you add them via edit to your original post? At least one would confirm the scratch as a scratch for later readers of this thread.

Now-a-days, sometimes is it posts such as yours that brings information to the masses when such is not deemed for catalog inclusion.

Now if you have any desire to see your name in print, you could send a short article with illustration to EFO Collectors' Club's journal, The EFO Collecter's editor. Afraid of your writing skills? That is what editors are there for, edit, review, assist and suggest.
