I ordered a set of 401-404 because it was the cheapest way to get 404. Getting 402 with a San Francisco precancel was definitely an added bonus.

On arrival, I was surprised at just how much color variation there was between the example with the precancel and the others that I have seen thus far. The print quality is also somewhat muddy.

It's an interesting compliment to the example I already have, for sure, if nothing else.

Not uncommon. Siegel would describe it as a "pretty pastel color".

Carmine, Deep Carmine and Red are the three colors listed in Scott for 402. Seems you still need one more.

Now if you want real fun, get the SF Precancel reading up and down on all values 397-404.

Wow. Thank you all.

It seems the more I know, the more I realize just how much I don't know.
