Hello Everyone, longtime collector, just joining the forum. I'll admit I have used it before to look up information without joining, but now I am jumping in.
I collect music related material. This includes postage stamps from all over the world. I generally gravitate towards pre-2000 stamps as there are just SO many new issues.
This means I collect stamps with composers, musicians, opera houses, classical to popular music topics, and instruments. I also happen to love post horn stamps, though I am not systematically collecting every example of every issue. I like to have examples of the various designs within my budget.
In addition, I also collect covers. I have a lot of FDCs, but am much more interested in advertising covers, 19th century letters about musical topics, and stampless covers with a music connection.
Pretty much, I collect broadly as long as their is a music connection. Looking forward to making some connections.
Musical Stamps welcome, when you get to 50 posts we should talk. I'm in Orange county, NY and last summer I bought some material that once belonged to a music professor. I have US and WW music related stamps and covers coming out my ears. I was actually going to put 25 1960's-70's covers from music related organizations on eBay just to get rid of them.
Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences. Russ
I have seen several of your music related covers in various threads. Why don't you start a music related cover thread in the world wide cover section. I have just US examples, but you have covers from several countries. There are many stamp threads related to musical this and that on stamps, but no covers.
I tried to email you this suggestion, but you have not elected to receive emails in your SCF profile. Now while you can't send emails until you have 50 quality posts, we who have 50 or more quality posts can send you email now.
That is a great idea! I do have musical covers from several countries so that sounds like a great thread to start. But first, I am going to see if I can change my email settings - seems like an important piece of housekeeping.
