Here is a stamp in my album that is supposedly a 634 with experimental paper. Does anyone know the story behind this stamp type? The last picture is the stamp laid over a original 634 magnified.

First the correct Scott number is 634g. PF certified it in 1988.

I would get a certificate.

For information try the index for The United States Specialist, the journal of the United States Stamp Society (USSS formerly BIA). Especially an article by Gary Griffith.

If it is proven to be a 634g, yes it is a rare stamp. Rare does not equal high priced value. Demand drives the value.

An unused block of 4, sold for $375 in 2001. If you explore the linked threads, you would have seen that information.

Quoted for truth. Without a cert it is just another 'wanna-be'.
