Hi all! I was going through some folders of stuff and I found this paper with these New Zealand stamps hinged to it. Does anyone know of any good resources that would help ID the postal cancels on these stamps? I thank you in advance.

I am not aware of a specialised catalogue Try the webmaster here https://www.eastamps.com/shop/Stamp...auranga.htmlPostmarks will become the new rage in the next 50 years most issuing counties are gradually dispensing with hand struck obliterators. Please let us know if you are successful. I have a list of NZ Postmarks (names only) but they are 60 pages long. |

rod222, I guess there is an 8 volume set of books that have some of that info in them. I guess for a fee, I can join The Royal Philatelic Society of New Zealand Library and have access to these books online. I am off to explore that route and see what may become of it. Thank you for the input! That pointed me in this new direction. I appreciate it. |

Good luck with your quest. Be aware that except for a few numbers, like "1" for Auckland, the numerals below the number 18 (at least) were used in different places at different times so it is impossible to tell the town of origin. This is per an old Campbell-Patterson catalog. The bottom right stamp has "O" for Otago. The other "O" in the same row is probably Otago also.
I'm looking at a fairly large screen and I can't read most of the cancels. The image does not expand. If you can't help us, we can't help you. |

Here are some thoughts. Top row: "6" - New Plymouth; "OTAGO" - Dunedin; 2nd row: "2" Russel 4th row: first stamp - Christchurch Bottom row: "20" Greymouth; "O" (2 stamps) - Dunedin (O for Otago); "11" Napier or Kaipoi
The others I found it difficult to see what was within the barred oval. Hope this helps. |

Thanks everyone. I will work on getting the regular images instead of a snip/screen shot. I appreciate your assistance. |

This is a screen shot of what was sent to me, showing a list of the early number obliterators. |
