You need set of Scott's Standard catalogues.
Worldwide stamps are covered in 6 volumes.
US stamps are in one volume - called the US Specialized catalog.
I recommend buying a complete set from 2003, 2004, 2005 or 2006 on
ebay.
The 2006 set is the first year with all the pictures in color.
The 2003 set can be had for about $35 plus $10-20 postage.
