Some Items Loosely Philatelic

I recently bought a lot of stampless covers. Nothing special with the lot containing mostly business letters to a Joel Lundy, merchant in Waterloo, NY circa 1836. Was hoping there might be some Canal Boat usage but alas no.
I'm sharing here a letter of recommendation written and signed by George Pomeroy. I'm assuming this is the same George Pomeroy that would later operate the local mail service.

An odd thing is happening, my PC shows the intended pics one is the letter and two is the Business card. On my I pad I'm seeing the letter twice and no business card.
I wonder what Others are seeing?

Your iPad is correct, your PC browser has cached an image that is not on the SCF server. Here is what is actually on the SCF server for your recently uploaded images...


You need to upload the business card image again (make sure they have unique file names) Never mind, you posted it above.

Thanks for sharing these. That is some beautiful script/cursive writing on great paper.

The letterpress-printed card looks as though it could have been printed yesterday.

Covers and letters (and books) that have "lived their lives" in the northeast fare so much better than those in the southeast.
