Hello, can anyone help me identify these stamps, and the potential value? I have just started going through my grandfathers stamps and noticed that these may be some of the more-valuable things that I have found so far, but I am not sure if I have identified them right. To my understanding, these are from the 1920s?
Let me know any information - particularly interested in the 2 millionen/200, but I would like information on all of them!
First and foremost, it's "Deutsches Reich." The stylized "s" throws off many people that aren't familiar with German or the era and its association typefaces.
These are all from the early 1920's, as you've surmised. I don't know the Scott numbers (I only use Scott for USA), but I could dig out a Michel and get you those numbers if you'd like. The overprint issues are a result of the famous hyperinflation Germany suffered after WWI. Individual examples of each stamp retail for a few cents, while I've seen pristine sheets retail for anywhere from $5 to $50 or more (depending on the market and how savvy the seller deems buyers to be). So, nothing exceptional here for a collector objectively speaking, but should you choose to learn about the era, they make a great conversation piece. Or, just a nice way to remember your grandfather.
