Quote: Direct contact to the seller by many may have helped. Good riddance. Had nothing to do with it, it's vaporized which means ebay did it, not the seller. |

https://www.ebay.com/itm/353496088920"US American Flag 2018 Forever Postage Stamp 100 Count Roll Collect Seal Envelope" Rolls of 100 Forever "stamps" for just $14.09, 10% off if you buy a second all with free shipping. This down from $27.94 a week ago. Perhaps this post belongs in the Back of the Book section as that is where these will be listed. |

I wonder if the USPS will be a little more concerned about counterfeits now. Tempted to buy and see what they look like. Perfect free "gifts" for stamp sales but I'd never actually use them as postage.

Is anyone actually checking though? Something as innocuous as a forever stamp? |

Then was it the "report item"/ "black hole that helped," which I did not expecting anything, or was ebay somehow monitoring? How would ebay know and react so quickly. Seems unusual to me. |

Why was this thread moved to back of book? It was about a clueless seller and a modern front of book stamp. |

Quote: Why was this thread moved to back of book? ... and a modern front of book stamp. The modern "stamps" such as these Forever "stamps" get listed in the back of the book, right after Post Office Seals and before Test Stamps. They are listed in that section by Scott number with a suffix of (CF#) with the # being 1, 2, 3 and so on depending on the varieties. If you have a 2021 Scott US Specialized, check page 1027. My guess? Part of the issue is the link in the OP is dead. There was no photo captured of the item or items in question. I am not sure if that seller was clueless rather than just hoping for a greater fool. He has been cycling his material continually, has been a member of ebay since 2018 and had zero feedback with no indication of selling anything. But again, as the OP stands, it is an empty post containing a dead link. Both seem to meet the title of this thread: Quote: So Many Different Kinds Of Wrong |

I'm sorry, but are these seals or are they postage stamps or are they somehow forgeries? If the latter, I would think postal inspectors would have these guys in minutes....What's up? |

I thought I moved it to the ebay category (not back-of-book) but today was a dialysis day and I might have made a mistake. My bad, sorry. I moved it because in my opinion was that the thread lost most of its value once ebay killed the listing, no one could figure out who the seller was, what stamp was involved; all the context was gone. I am attaching the ebay image here and moving it to the ebay category. Don |

The current assumption is the "stamps" were not sold over the counter by the USPS. Per sales history, the seller has just three feedback comments on the Forever rolls. They are not big fish. USPIs do chased down the peddlers of counterfeit stamps. However they are more concerned with the shipping container than the handful of rolls. Of course these could be legitimate stamps being sold at 25% of face but then that begins to beg other questions. |

Quote:I am attaching the ebay image here The item and others can be found as complete listings for the seller chewm-25 Item: 144033905434 closed 5-15-2021. What drove the outrage for this item was the title, "1610A $1 Inverted Candle Stick Xtra Fine Mint Never Hinged." EDIT: I did not intend to insert the ebay item number as a link, SCF software did it. Of course, the link does not work. Two ways to get there. First go to ebay enter the item number and search. After there is no return, go to the tick box along the left side and tick "completed" and that should get to the listing(s). Second is to click on "advanced search" (blue text) next to the search button. On the advanced search page, tick "completed" box; farther down tick the "only show sellers from" then in the box, type the seller's ID ("chewm-25") then click on the search button. |
