LOL, they consider Polystyrene so safe that I have a bottle of it that I am suppose to eat in case I miss any dialysis treatments!
Polystyrene sulfonate (Kayexalate®) is used by dialysis patients to control our potassium levels if we cannot get to our treatments. By eating the Polystyrene sulfonate, it acts as an exchange resin that trades sodium ions for potassium ions so potassium can be expelled.
