Blue Rose Stamp Mounts

Just wanted some opinions about these mounts and how they do in your stamp pages...Thanks, Dean.

Blue Rose Mounting Strips consist of two sheets of oriented polystrene foil welded together along one edge (Hawid style). The foil has a crystal clear front with a Jet Black Back. The "Giant" size has a "split back" design, sealed on both the top and bottom edges (Showgard style). The foil is completely safe for stamps, will not shrink or discolor, and is 100% waterproof. Pre-gummed on the entire back. Moisten the bottom half lightly.

If polystrene is a typo (Polystyrene) ?

Polystyrene contains the toxic substances Styrene and Benzene, suspected carcinogens and neurotoxins that are hazardous to humans.

In the interests of clarifying Rod's comments, the info on the safety of Polystyrene copied and pasted in comes from a journal called "Business Bardbados." Not normally considered an expert proof source or peer reviewed avenue for the discussion of chemicals and human safety.

It should be noted that the FDA considers Polystyrene safe for handling and storage in the food service industry, where it has been used for decades. Sodium chloride contains 2 very toxic substances- sodium in elemental form would burn through your skin like the acid from the movie creature in Alien. Chlorine in elemental form causes acid to form in your lungs and is thus also extremely toxic. But when combined, these 2 elements lose their unique properties and turn into....... table salt.

I have no knowledge as to whether Polystyrene is safe for stamps.

I had thought "Mylar" was the current plastic for safe mounts,
(Polyethelene)
Should be interesting to read anything about polystyrene in a philatelic consideration.

LOL, they consider Polystyrene so safe that I have a bottle of it that I am suppose to eat in case I miss any dialysis treatments!

Polystyrene sulfonate (Kayexalate®) is used by dialysis patients to control our potassium levels if we cannot get to our treatments. By eating the Polystyrene sulfonate, it acts as an exchange resin that trades sodium ions for potassium ions so potassium can be expelled.

And yes, it tastes like you are eating styrofoam.
