This one has had me scratching my head years now. I came upon it in a box of stamps that I bought at a flea market about ten years ago. Can someone shed some light please? When I was stationed in Colorado Springs before I retired I went to the Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library in Denver and found nothing about it. Even the staff were scratching their heads too.

Chinese People´s Revolutionary War Period...It looks like a liberated area overprint on this North East province stamp. Could date from 1949... |

Thank you. That is nice to know. What is the reference that you used to find information about it? |

I don't believe it is a postage stamp with that overprint , there are postage stamps used as revenue stamps in the Liberated Areas ,there is no catalog printed on these revenue stamps yet.
You will need someone to translate that overprint .
It could be a local overprint in any of the nine provinces in the North-eastern China
I ran into some of these revenue stamps at Michael Rogers Auctions . |

I could see that being true..in 1960 they didn't even know of it let alone what it's use was :) Perhaps we will see a write up on this in the future ,personally I wouldn't know where to start

It really looks like Scott 3L60 except the overprint color doesn't appear to be green and is grey. It may be that the ink color has faded or some other affect to give the appearance of grey. |
