KGV 1928 Scroll 2c Green Coil (Sc 161) Question

The pictured 1928 2c KGV Scroll green coil has a small piece of selvedge gummed to the the back side, with the same perf 8 as the coil stamp. Given the lack of perfs on the stamp on the left side, thinking it is the start of the strip, but not clear to me how the selvedge got attached. The gum is undisturbed.

Hoping someone more familiar with the coil printing process of the day can comment on how this may have been produced.

Sure looks like this was the end of the paper roll that the stamps were printed on. Too bad it does not have the second stamp still attached to it!

Add: It is odd the extra paper on the reverse side is slid upward slightly - both top and bottom. I would expect paste-up coils to have many sheets pasted together, then cut, so the paste-up aligned a the top and bottom ... as if it were attached afterwards.

Also could be from a paste-up pair. The right stamp from a pair.

Right, very helpful, thank you. So what I have is the paste-up strip, and the first stamp of the new roll. A nice little keeper.

Here is an example of a paste up pair...Not Admiral but my Scott 407-XX Paste-up pair - Precancel V-466 to get the idea.

Very strange that your stamp is overlapping the perforations..weird.

Canada Scott 161 is the last of the paste up coils that were made by pasting together separate stamp sheets and cutting them into strips to make coils. All coils after this were made from continuous web rolls.

Thank you for further info - yes, I have some KGV arch issue coils with line pairs/strips from the web roll production method. Funnily enough, found another paste-up single this evening - this one a used Admiral (Sc 127).
