In case you missed it, I was amused to see this collection of variable rate USA CVP postage at a recent Kelleher auction (sale 817 lot 78). Page after page of mint singles and PNC coil strips of 5 of each different design type from 1992-1996, in every denomination from 0.01 to 1.00 and a few higher. It must have taken quite a bit of patience standing in front of the machine inserting pennies to "generate" this collection. Total face value $4700. Sold for $1800 (38% of face. Plus commission it could add up to 46% of face).
