Plate Location And How To Identify Them

How to identify the plate location for US 1857 10 cent stamp. I have seen where all of you in the know of this information has ruffled my feathers wanted to understand. I thought there was a site posted to help learn but can't find it. If anyone knows of a site I would appreciate the help. I have several of both 1955 and 1857 on covers. I'm a covers fan and started with stampless but will enjoy understanding plates and locations.
