Hawaii Post Stamps: Are They Considered Real Ones Or Cinderellas?

I was told that they are issued by a private company.

There are certainly real stamps issued in Hawaii pre-US involvement, partial US involvement and when it became US territory.

Now without photos, we cannot tell which stamps or non-stamps you are referencing.

I was talking about stamps issued after Hawaii became 50th state of USA.

Just, if you Google "Hawaii Post" you will get a nice website with info on their stamps which were issued through 2014

The question remains: Are those considered post stamps or not (since they were payment stickers for local pickup delivery)?

More importantly, the references for the entry will give more detail.

Then you choose whether to consider them stamps or Cinderellas (labels). What ever your choice, folks will agree with you and others will disagree with you. But "collect them if you like them" is the way to go.

Edit:

If you limit "real stamps" to those issues recognized by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) for use on mail from one area to any other UPU country, you will still get arguments. Add valid within the area of issue with issue by a recognized government entity and the argument gets longer.

I consider Local Post stamps in a different category of their own. They aren't USPS issues but they are legitimate postage for local use so they aren't Cinderella's either.

Hawaii Post operates under the exemption to the US Private Express Statutes, that allows urgent mail.
The relevant statute is Section 39 CFR320-6
