Please see the scan of Scott 498e, 499e, and 501b. In general, should we expect to see consistent measures of border dimensions when comparing panes of different denominations? Or is some variation expected? I'm pondering the lateral (east-west) dimensions especially. Thanks in advance.

I have a multiples of each of these. I just checked them and at least in mine they are consistent widths for each, meaning that the three 498e's that I have are all the same width. Same with the 499e's and 501b's, however all three are slightly different widths when compared to each other. I can't tell you if that's true for all but it seems to be the way mine run.

@jconey - thanks. Are your 501b (3-cent) specimens consistently narrower than the other denominations?
