Lit candles are shown on both the 18 p (SG #1343) and 34 p (SG #1346) values of Great Britain's November 18 - December 2 Christmas set of five values. The stamps have a 'folk customs' theme. The 18 p stamp depicts the Tanad Valley Plygain, and the 34 p stamp illustrates the Hereford Boy Bishop.

On May 24, 1990 Nigeria issued a four-stamp "Pottery" set. The 10 kobo value (Sc #561) of this set depicts two earthenware oil lamps.

Here is the 1.25 taka value (Sc #66) from Bangladesh's October 9, 1974 four-stamp set commemorating the centenary of the Universal Postal Union. Stamp depicts a mail runner holding a mail sack with one hand, and a spear and a kerosene lantern with the other hand.

A lit miner's helmet lamp is shown on this September 1, 2000, Canadian 46c stamp (Sc #1866) commemorating the centenary of the Department of Labour.

Stamp is postmarked Lac Bouchette P.O. The town (pop. 1174) is located on the eastern side of Lake Bouchette, Quebec.

This September 13, 2000 46c stamp (Sc #1867) of Canada commemorates the 25th anniversary of Petro-Canada. Stamp shows two people holding a torch.

On September 5, 1957 Canada issued this 5c stamp (Sc #373) recognizing the the country's mining industry. Stamp depicts a drilling miner equipped with a helmet light.

Here is Netherlands's April 16, 1952 10c stamp (Sc #331) commemorating the 50th anniversary of DSM.

From dsm.com, "DSM was established in 1902 by the Dutch government to mine coal reserves in the Southern Province of Limburg. To this day we still use the English translation (Dutch State Mines) of the company's original name..."

This May 24,1958 ten yen stamp (Sc #649) of Japan was issued to commemorate Tokyo's hosting of the 3rd Asian Games.

Here is another Olympics torch. This one is the 15fr + 5fr value (Mi #314) from the French administration of the Saarland's March 29, 1952 two-stamp Helsinki Olympics set.
