Jogil,

Are there also perf hole size differences between 1365 and 1365i (50c Snow apple) and 1373 and 1373ii (88c Westcott apricot)?

For these Unitrade indeed says all are perf 13.1 as it does for 1369 and 1369i (69c Shagbark hickory) from your 1st post on this thread.

Peter

A very interesting thread ... to have additional methods to reliably tell the difference between the similar printings. Easier to look at internet images for the hole size and the bridges between the holes (blunt or pointy) and not have to guess on the paper types.

A salient point.

I can see it occurring in the following scenarios.
Printer employs 2 differing perforators, each with a differing pin diameter die.

Printer has a back up pin die, to be exchanged when pins become dulled.
Although I doubt this, as pins are easily sharpened, by a few runs of the horizontal table grinder, taking off a few 1000th inch.

Depending on the stamp format, pin diameters may differ with harrow perforation dies, employed for blocks, souvenir sheets etc.

pwscg: Isn't the Scott 1372 with the 14.4 x 13.8 gauge perforations the booklet stamp 1372a from 1372b pane? It may also be similar for 1365 (CBN) and 1365i (AP) as well as for 1369 (CBN) and 1369i (AP).

wert: Scott 1367 (AP) and 1368 (AP) with small perforation holes.

wert: Scott 1367 with small perforation holes and 1368 with large perforation holes just like you found before. Perhaps a new variety?

You are correct, the 14.4 x 13.8 is the booklet. My apologies!

I know it is not the exact same stamps you are investigating, but here are 2 Scott 1375 with small and large perfs.
Look at the left side of the perfs especially.

Robert

wert: Thank you for your compliments and keep up your work on perforations.

Maybe this perforation hole size difference can help in further sorting out AP from CBN printed Berry stamps (Scott 1349-1355) with coated papers.

Never even gave these a thought...Interesting.
Will have to hunt deeper.

I have about 30 stamps that have perforations that do not seem to line up with catalogues..But will not post here.

Jogil, post more of your finds...will be waiting.

Jogil,

It is not obvious to me what the hole sizes are on the 6 used stamps in the pic from several postings above:
1374 (CBN), 1374as (CBN), 1374i (AP), 1374iiis (AP), 1374b (AP), 1374ii (AP).

Can you provide the sizes please?

Also, I have corner blocks of 1365i (APCL) and 1373ii (APCL) both with large holes as compared to 1369i (APCL) with small holes.
I will post pics of these shortly.

Thanks,
Peter

1369i (APCL) small holes above 1365i (APCL) large holes.

1369i (APCL) small holes above 1373ii (APCL) large holes.

All are perf 13.1.

pwscg: It appears that there are two different perforation hole sizes for AP with small and medium. Are there any AP holes that are the same size or larger than CBN holes? So far, CBN holes appear to be larger than AP holes.
1367 (AP), 1368 (AP), 1369 (CBN), 1370i (AP)
