It appears there is something going on in the lettering but certainly not boldly. Opinions appreciated.

I don't think it's a double impression. It appears to be a dry print perhaps?
What would be termed "a printing anomaly" by PSE. I just looked at a stamp with that designation on a cert and thought of this post. When I came back to see what the experts here had posted I was surprised that no one weighed in. Hereby bumped.

It is a dry print, but it still might be a double transfer in "postage". Tough to tell from a scan.
