Hong Kong, Scott # 210, Design A28 With Bangkok Cancel?

Hi,

I found this stamp in a album and was curious about why it has a Bangkok cancel.

From this link: https://goscf.com/t/65078 From 3/4 down the webpage, it looks like Bangkok cancels did exist on Hong Kong stamps, but that the post office closed in 1885. From the bottom of the cancel, it appears to be from 1965.

I know that my Scott Specialized catalogue lists Treaty Port and British Offices in Japan cancels on Hong Kong stamps. Interestingly enough, it doesn't mention Bangkok cancels even though it seems Scott should given the above website's information.

Any info about this more modern cancel is appreciated!

I don't know that much about cancels, but your opinion seems right to me!

The trace of the edge of the next letter on the left side of the stamp definitely looks more like an "O" than an "A".

At first I saw the English page which says the post office opened in 1993...didn't make sense.



The translated version of the Chinese page made much more sense date-wise.

"NG KOK" or "NGKOK"

A tangentially related question: Are there any online resources about the relative scarcity of Hong Kong cancellations? Looking for Treaty Port cancels can be fun, but I'm wondering if there are other Hong Kong cancels to look out for too?

None that I know of online that gives relative scarcity of Hong Kong cancels.

bmbmbm - It looks like you found a great list of the Hong Kong post offices. Now try to find them all cancelled on a cover, block, or stamp. Some will be hard to find, some will be easy, and you will soon find that out as you look for them. I am still enjoying the hunt, as I collect Hong Kong cancels, and the thrill comes when you find one like this Butterfly!
