Having a inventory 'list' (and images) typically helps if you need to make an insurance claim.

I rather keep the information transparent.

Started about 20 years ago, an American member of RCSD Newsgroup (if memory serves) Posted a FULL LIST of US stamp images (albeit in tiny Thumbnails) with Scott numbers.

Amos contacted him, and served a "cease and desist" notice.
He removed the information.

I had used the information for a few days to sort my US, and found it a very easy way to sort the 1000's of US stamps I had, that were just sitting in glassines.
When the info was removed, I decided to make my own for personal use.

So I bought a scanner, scanned 40 stamps at a time, identified each by a purchased (Amos) Scott Catalogue.
This has become so much easier with free "stampfix"

The typing is all that is left to do, and stored in
any Windows Hiearchy as shown

I'm new to the forum - I know some people here don't care for it in general, but I catalogue using Stampworld *** Edited by Staff - Please Review the rules that you agreed to when you registered. ***. It allows me to create sub albums, have a wantlist I can actually purchase from directly, and catalogue what I have - it also has watermark images with the stamp images which has been a huge help for me. There are some pains in learning to use it at the beginning, but I haven't had too much trouble. If you rely on the Scott numbers, you might not enjoy it much.
