The stamp was described to me as being doubled
I hadn't seen it
when I looking in the information I have I didn't see anything listed
Made me sceptical so I asked here
I ended up going over and buying what he had seeing it wasn't much he was asking
And I figured it was worth it even if it wasn't doubled

the stamp that was in question I'm thinking it's more over-inked
Then doubling after looking at it

It is a 50 cent cv stamp. Hope that you did not pay too much.

I payed 20$ For everything, I can't even complain
There a few things I'm happy to add to my collection

I do have another question
One has a stamp on the back guessing a dealer marking
But it looks incomplete any ideas?
(Image might be upside down)

It's more likely to be a collector's mark from a handstamp.

I can live with that thanks geoffha
Found a couple decent watermark letters that made my buy worth it for me
Didn't have any partials from the those values

Came across another name/marking on the back,
on a stamp that had already attracted my attention.
I didn't see it listed on the philatelic expert markings site
So it's most likely just a previous owners name.
Seeing the stamp had my attention before I noticed the mark,
Now I'm curious to see if I could find anything out about this person.
I realize information is probably lost to the sands of time, but I'll try

Possibly- buono hofmann Cliper? Is my best guess so far.
Figured I'd ask if anyone see's it differently?

Thanks

Last line is likely Leipzig, a town in Germany. I think Senf brothers stamp business hails from there. And possibly some other less known ones.

If I am not wrong the position of German expertizing mark is also his verdict on the stamp. So, it would be interesting to know where exactly and in what position the mark is. Although it is good to keeping mind that also these marks have been forged.

This Hofmann sold WW stamps for a living back in the 50's. I would not put too much stock in his "expertizing" opinions. I have never seen a stamp sold by anybody hanging their hat on a Hofmann stamp. That goes for a lot of Russian material. It is "signed" to death. Many scarcer stamps have their backsides littered with signatures. Sellers love to tag their wares as being "signed" All is not equal and just because somethimng is stamped does not gaurantee anything. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Stolow stamp on Russian stamps. Dr. Jem has more weight but has been faked. A lot. As with US stamps if you are spending real money especially on overprinted items you should get a real cert.

PS: Don't confuse this Hofmann with the Hofmann that is an expert on Latvia.
