My collection almost all, are ripped, torn, holes, etc
Perhaps an indication of where I bought them.
or perhaps the gum.
I keep them for Postmarks flavour, which there is a vast array of types.

My only divergence from Black, is for a Violet Pmk, not seen red before.

The red marking is not a cancel per se. It was an additional marking incidentally/accidentally struck on the stamp.

My best guess is that the red marking is a US "PAID ALL" marking indicating the postage amount was checked and was paid in full. Shown on this partial cover (not mine):

I would say there is no premium nor penalty for this additional marking on a loose stamp.

In that era, it is not uncommon to see a red French receiving cancel on a stamp on mail from Germany.

Even though the condition is less than a Perfect 10 , it's been thru snow, rain, heat and gloom. Can any used stamp be a 10 ?
