Sydrique, eBay is a good place to get started with building your collection - there are often small collections at good prices. As your collection builds, dealers can help you with the stamps that you can't find on eBay. Our business, Fair Dinkum Stamps, specialises in earlier Australian and colonial stamps (KGV, Kangaroos, the Colonies/States of Australia), so we might be able to help with any of the stamps or catalogues that you need for those areas of interest. We list a small part of our stock here: www.fairdinkumstamps.com and are always open to enquiries about other stamps from early Australia that you require. |

How would you classify yourself? Experienced collector? collect used or mint?
I have bags of "floorsweepings" you can have free no guarantee of quality, duplicates get chucked in a shoebox.
Being from Thailand, I guess used would be your best avenue, no gum best for the tropics.
Phet buri is lovely, spent many holidays there. |

Sylvan,
Tell us more about what you want to achieve with your collection. I'm sure lots of us will have something to help you with and we can provide more guidance for expensive items, depending on your budget.

Remember, new member can't send emails until having 50 quality posts. However, members with email rights can send an email to the new member IF:
The new member configures their SCF account to send and receive emails. That allows you, Sydrique, the new member, to get the emails sent you by members with email rights. You will still need the qualifying 50 posts to send others your email first. I do believe you are allowed to respond the the emails sent you by members with email rights.
That said, my Australia interests are certain sendings with the USA as a destination and the stamps/covers of AAT. Not much in hand and less as duplicates. |

Quote: Remember, new member can't send emails until having 50 quality posts... 1. Sydrique was contacted privately by Staff explaining the rules. 2. The spirit of the rule limiting contact is that there are countless numbers of scams/spam and 'drive-by' crap that is constantly being attempted which is going on behind the scenes. So for the safety of everyone, the best approach is to allow some time for everyone to get to know each other. 'Working around' the spirit of the rule is not recommended. If anyone gets ripped off, contact Parcelpostguy and see if he will reimburse you. Don |

Bobby - well, I'd like more, but my occasional large country clear-out lots tend not to attract much interest! |

Quote: If anyone gets ripped off, contact Parcelpostguy and see if he will reimburse you. Don Quote: I have bags of "floorsweepings" you can have free no guarantee of quality, duplicates get chucked in a shoebox. Don, I doubt someone can be "ripped off" when offering stuff for FREE as did rod222. My point was, the 'do you want some free stuff' cannot be usefully answered here, but by member email exchange. Plus, those who have been around long enough to qualify for initiating an email, can give appropriate consideration for doing so. Now offering a transaction involving an exchange of money or other value is a different matter. But here, rod222 is actually offering to pay (cost of postage to send) to rid himself of floor sweeping of dubious quality. And lastly yes, if rod222 is swindled on this free transaction, I will reimburse him the full free value. In fact I have already sent him many multiples of "free value" already. I only sent ten times free, but can up it to 100 or 1000 if that makes you feel better. Now lets all check my math, $0 (free) x 10 = $0; $0 x 100= $0; and $0 x 1000=$0. That amount, $0, less a small handling fee percentage, has been transfer into rod222's bank account in $US, $Au and all currently available types of cryptocurrency. The exchange rate, if necessary, was factored in as well. Now back to being serious, if seasoned members should not contact newbies, then I believe the system can be set to block all incoming and outgoing emails until a member has 50 qualifying posts and such is only an administrator's publicly unquestionable decision. But, as a user, to be aware of some particular functionality and then needing to decide, can or should I use such functionality, is confusing and life is already confusing as it is. Of course even if one has 50 qualifying posts, one still must choose to set their account to have email functionality to find oneself in this swamp. (insert alligator emoji here) |

And what price would you put on someone stealing his identity? And what price would you put on a second or third transaction? The rules have been in place for years and worked well long before you arrived in this community. Please stop with the trolling (asking you nicely), few people come here to argue and I am certainly weary of arguing with you. With others want to play your 'give and take' game then so be it, but please do not reply to my posts, just move over them. Don |

For the record, I must apportion some blame, I responded, when I should have known better. I usually expect the moderators to catch them quickly.
I was too quick on the draw, my apologies.
I have committed to send Sylvain some stamps, I cannot go back on that, but explained, and written none further until he posts 50.
Cheers to all. |

No worries Rodney. Folks may not understand the low levels some online people will sink to when trying to take advantage of others. Nothing is too low for some to sink to including threats; surely community members do not want to deal with having their lives threatened (some of us on staff have)**. Asking for a bit of patience does a very good job at limiting those with nefarious intentions, I recommend that folks take advantage of this safeguard. Don
**We are also the ones who have to deal with the fallout when something bad goes down. |
