Patg23 thank you for sharing your Canadian straight edge collection. Collecting the different edge varieties is a favorite of mine with modern US and just this last week I have been cataloging my Canadian stamps and discovered Canada has a long history of stamps with different edge varieties, so some of these are still out on my desk waiting to be placed in the album. I will also certainly be on the lookout for more.
What other countries have issues like these were edges are a major variety?

There are a number of GB Machins with straight edges, issued in booklets.

Straight edges can be found on sheet, mini-sheet, booklet and coil stamps. It is interesting trying to distinguish between some sheet and some booklet stamps from each other. Sometimes the direction of the paper grain helps and other times guide lines help and the look of the cut on the corners helps. The last old Canada straight edge sheet stamp was BABN Scott 208 (1934) but they appeared again later with BABN Scott 482, 483, 484 (1968), 490 (1969).

Thought this interesting as one more thing to be on the lookout for. (Not in Unitrade)

Also, recently read an article / reference (now misplaced) on another way to distinguish between sheet and booklet is that under magnification the sheet stamp straight edge will show a rougher cut and the booklet a smoother cut having to do with method used to separate.

Will try to find article. Maybe someone else also saw it?

Great article! I just purchased a small lot of Canadian stamps (120) on ebay and can see in the picture several straight edged stamps. Now looking forward to them arriving and applying this information to my cataloging.
