Victorian Barred Numeral 478 Nuggetty Reef Rrrr Rated

This is a new addition to my collection. BN 478 is 4R rated and while I'm not convinced about the 4, the '78' is only matched by 478 in Freeman's book.

What do y'all think is the number?


The 478 numeral was in use from 1864 until 1894, the stamp was issued in 1890 onV2 watermarked paper so would represent late use and a worn hammer.

The top of the middle numeral looks more like the '5' of 458 Bealiba than the '7' of Nuggetty Reef.

Definitely not those types. The thick lettering type started at 400 and ended at 484.

The "5's" do not appear to match perhaps?

Prestige.
"458" and 20mm BEALIBA b/s 1868 the only recorded example

What is "b/s" please?
