I can open my Ottomans Postmarks disks, via ACDSee c1983 OK. (Win7)
On my Win10 I cannot.

Webmaster requires Adobe (Free download from)
I note it is for a free trial.
Is there a free Adobe program available anywhere?

With adobe, may I search over multiple *.pdf's?

DVD cover quotes Navigation is Blue
what would that mean please.

Any advice welcomed.

You do not need Adobe, which is the licenced (and fairly expecive) program to create, edit and read PDF's. You need Adobe Reader, which is a free program for only reading PDF's.

Thank you Kuikka
I had not read the back cover adequately

I aborted initial run
Do I need McAfee security scan?
McAfee safe connect?

May I opt to not install these?

Hi Rod,

I wouldn't install Adobe PDF reader.

When I was still using windows I used Sumatra PDF reader. Light, fast, free. The three things you want in a program.

When installing a new program, my advice would be to NEVER install any additional software. If you cannot opt out, do not proceed.

Cheers Bobby !
aborted, and tossed in the trash.
Sumatra here we come.
Thank you so much.

For the record I did see the options, on the 2nd look.
Typical for the dark side, giving you stuff you never asked for.

Happy to help Rod

If I wasn't so busy with stamps I'd be writing instruction manuals on keeping people's internet/computer safe at home!

It's a HUGE step for most, but getting away from Windows was the best thing I ever did.

I respectfully disagree with Bobby, I support Adobe Reader and the full Adobe app too. The reasons are that it supports a lot of other features beyond simply opening a PDF (for example, it supports fully interactive PDF forms). The full app is one of the only native PDF generators around (as opposed to 'saving as' a PDF) and supports advanced features such as data connected PDF files. It also supports the building of a 'master index' so that I can run searches across EVERY PDF I own in one step (new Stamp Smarter 'Hot To' video coming soon).

I have used a number of free 3rd party PDF readers over the years and many are very good. But ultimately, I always came back to recommending the free Adobe reader. I do not like the latest version (Adobe Reader DC) so I typically look around online for the older version Acrobat Reader X 10.1.2, it is widely available. I also recommend the full Adobe app suite version X.

Lastly, I end up supporting countless numbers of family, friends, and others with their computer issues. Doing this on Windows and with free apps like Adobe reader makes supporting other simple and easy.

Hi Rodney & Don

I've been using the free version of this for years. Take a look.

Hi

Speaking of PDF. If one is interested, I wrote a program a few years ago to extract page(s) from a PDF and create one or multiple PDF files containing the pages.

The software is FREE. E-mail me at jerrybemail-stamps 'at' yahoo 'dot' com to get the software.

I use several PDF programs: Acrobat Professional X (paid license), Acrobat Reader DC (free), and Foxit PDF reader (free). Foxit has a Windows Office like interface (the ribbon) with similar functions like Acrobat Reader. I use Acrobat Reader to add page numbers to my Steiner pages. My default it is Foxit but will use the other two for certain tasks.

The only time I have had real issues was with the Deegam Machin HB4 CD. Due to the way the links were created in the PDF (opens other PDFs) there was a security warning every time I used the link unless I installed it in the root directory. It took a bit of time checking the right security settings and "trusted" links before it worked installed anywhere.

I use Foxit Reader. Whenever installing PDF readers, NEVER install any extras they have in the installer.
