Hi,

I continue to work through my Mexico Scott Album. As you can imagine there are some stamps that are just out of my league (financially) - but I am always on the hunt (you never know).

One series of stamps - the 1934 Pro-Universidad stamps are challenging to find in good condition and a couple are priced very high. I haven't found a lot of information on their history and what makes them HV. I did go to MEPSI sight, but was not able to find anything. If anyone has any information on those stamps, I would love if you would share. This is only for my education. Below are pictures of two of the stamps that are particularly out of my league

Hi Mrita - The low quantities issued and actually sold make them expensive and the designs are quite attractive. There were only 1300 sets of the regular set sold (2000 issued) and 1500 of the air set. The top value 10 and 20 Peso stamps had even lower issue quantities.

Ah! Thank you Rogdcam. I figured it was quantities - but was not sure of the history. They are some of the earliest Indigenous Mexican American culture designs, so yes - quite attractive and unique. I will definitely check out your link. Thank you :)

It's a very attractive set and not commonly found. I've gone through 3 fairly comprehensive Mexico collections this year and that set has always been missing, except for the lowest 2-3 values. And those low values sell quickly in my store, so there's certainly other folks out there looking for them.

Definitely gmot. I just acquired sc# 700 and 702 (after a lot of hunting - and they are used) and only have 699 MNH. I am actively looking for a nice 698. The Airmails are more reasonable - but I have a feeling that will not last forever. A very interesting series. Nora.
