Is this normal? Received some old German stamps and was wondering about the printing.

The common term for these is tete-beche. If you Google that or even plug into the search here, lots of info will come up :)

These stamps were available in booklets, and the booklet panes were printed in large sheets with half the panes inverted. The uncut sheets were also available to collectors, and the tete-beche pairs were created by separating the sheet across the intersection of two panes so that one stamp was inverted. Here's an example of an uncut sheet (Markenheftchenbogen or MHB).
