I think that the 1937 cancel on this Czechoslovakian stamp reads "EBERSBACH v SASKO".
Haven't been able to find a town in Czechoslovakia that had the German-language name Ebersbach. There is an Ebersbach in Germany near the Czech border. So where was this stamp canceled?
My thanks in advance for any enlightenment.

Sasko (czech) = Sachsen (german) = Saxony

This is a surprising cancellation!

In Ebersbach on the German side of the border a German postmark would have said Ebersbach i. Sachs. or Ebersbach (Sachs).

I guess this was postmarked in a Czech post office in Jiríkov immediately across the border in Czechoslovakia, with the Czech postmark there simply Ebersbach v Sasku as a Czech translation of Ebersbach i. Sachsen?

The postcard appears to have been sent to Bautzen close by in Saxony.

An interesting conundrum. Why would a post office in Jirikov, Czechoslovakia have & use a cancel for Ebersbach, Germany?

Maybe a post office at the border located in a train station?

Could be something similar to the Loerrach bfa Basel cancellation discussed in the SCF 'Germany cancellation premium' thread, pages 32-3.

The cancel is the result of a cross-border rail TPO (travelling post office). There was a TPO from Rumberk to Ebersbach pre-war, so the mail either got stamped en-route to Ebersbach or upon arrival, before distribution within Germany. Since all the mail was (undoubtedly) destined for Germany, it didn't much matter who did the canceling.
