On a serious note - there is also the "Sandwich islands"..............

I have an 1879 price list from a Philadelphia stamp dealer, and Hawaiian stamps are listed under the Sandwich Islands. Oh, the things a quarter could buy back in the day ...




And then there is South Georgia & the South Sandwich Islands, former Falkland Island dependencies (and a former battle ground in the 1982 Falklands War).



A video is making the rounds showing a juvenile elephant seal very pleased to have some human company on South Georgia. Don't try this with an adult male, they weigh 6000 pounds and can move faster than a human on the sand. And they'll rip your face off too, probably.

I'd have to assume that woman is a researcher, South Georgia has no permanent resident population and she seems to know how to deal with a big monster seal.

What a great video, Ryan! And it was hilarious even just watching the penguins waddling around in the background! I guess they are the ones who use the stamps since no permanent human population.
