TL;DR - Got scammed, PayPal refunded.

To set this up: early one morning (not awake yet) was looking for something on the internet. Was on the Walmart site when a pop-up came up stating it was a flash "special' sale for a normally $600 generator for $92!
Normally very cautious; the coffee had not kicked in yet.

Wow I thought, Walmart must have really overstocked this one. So, I hit buy. Luckily PayPal was an option.

As soon as I hit buy, the money was gone from PayPal. Went back to find the ad, and it was nowhere to be found.

Pro tip - pop-up was not part of the Walmart site.

There was a link in PayPal as to where the money had gone. I even got an email from the company thanking me for my order.

Went to the link and it was one of those Chinese sites selling nothing but cheap jewelry.

After a few weeks, went to the site and asked where the order was?
Nothing - crickets - no reply.

Went to PayPal to see what could be done. There was a note saying that due to the shipping back-ups, to be patient. Also, a notice saying I had 180 days to file a claim.

Order put in on Sept.6, on Dec.16 filed a claim. Within the hour dispute was resolved in my favor, and money returned.

Was surprised it was so quick, but happy with the results.

Have since seen similar ads from companies selling "everything" at cheap prices.
I think I remember one story on here from a member looking for catalogs. That one looked like it was a company in Canada, but if you followed the link, it went to China.

So, long story short, be cautious out there - 'it's a jungle"

Best to all, and "Happy New Year".
pat

Good! I have to say that the only time my Paypal account was compromised - someone hacked my account and bought (and collected, of course) an iPad, Paypal were great. Got through quickly, really helpful, knowledgeable man on the line, money refunded and reassurance and advice given.

I admit I had to look it up:

What does genset refer to?
"A genset refers to an equipment whose function is to convert the so-called heat capacity into mechanical energy and then into electrical energy. Briefly, it consists of a motor and an alternator that is coupled and inserted in a base with other elements."
