634 Plate Block.

Good Afternoon ladies and gentlman. I am new the this forum. Recently joined to learn more about my grandfathers stamp collection he handed down to me. I came across this block of 634 and question is the mouth error. Is this real? I haven't seen or read any documentation regarding this. What are your expertise thoughts?

Thanks Doug

Yes, it is real and is cataloged by Scott as the "Smiling George" recut from plate 21423 position UL23. The single stamp is valued at $250 mint never hinged. Your plate block is really nice. Congratulations!

It's really a "plate variety" rather then an "error".

So I am using a software to inventory my collection. How would you catalog the "Smiling George"?

Thanks
