I visited the Harris's Machin and it has been totally revamped. It looks like everything has been put in a database to manage the content.

One now needs to create an account to log in to see more data and there is a one time membership fee (C$100) to see see even more information including individual scans and use the want list/checklist functions.

For those that have purchased pages from him, this can be credited against the membership fee.

Angore is correct, but I would like to clarify that some valuable content is available for free, including the basic album.

The site is definitely worth a look:

Yes, there are 3 levels

1. not logged in - less than prior website access
2. logged in - about the same as prior website access
3. paid fee - more features

You note that level 1 has "less than prior website" … what are you missing on the new site that you used to get on the old site? I thought I had included everything, just in a different layout because it is now database driven.

Re: 'level 2'
A free login is required because data is being stored for the individual … they can identify their favourites (which makes it quicker to find specific listings) and they can save their desire to receive update e-mails. Neither of these features were available on the previous site.

Hi Robin,
Do you have a link for the Terms of Service or Privacy Policy for your site?

Robin

Thanks for the clarification.

When I tried to find what I wanted, I had to log in to see the presentation I was expecting. But, it may have been you moved it around so not where I expected it. It looks like you put everything in a database.

The web site is the best online Machin resource for me. The content closely parallels the Intermediate pages and the Specialized pages go a giant step further (gum, screens and other combinations). It has been a useful reference. I prefer your groupings over Deegams.

I created my own checklist for all the spaces in the Intermediate pages and collect mostly a subset of that.

Took me a brief while to realise, but the button "Quick List" at the top, basically gets you to the good old listings by type. Same as before except the little round pictures showing the values/colours at a glance aren't there. No biggie - otherwise it's just as good as always.
