Looks like the 3rd. Company (Kompanie) of the Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon (I. Ers. Batt.) 260.

Deployed 27 November 1940 in Passau (on the Danube on the present German/Austrian/Czech border), split into a an infantry reserve battalion and infantry training battalion. In October 1942 both were deployed in Prague. On 10 April 1943 the battalions became 'grenadier' battalions. It would be likely your item dates to the period 27 November 1940 until 10 April 1943.
Before that date it did not exist as nr. 260 Battalion, after that the I. would have been replaced at some time.

The last digit of the unit isn't a "0", it's an "8".

That was what I was not very sure about.

Deployed 26 August in the Deutsche Krone district (now in Poland) In 1941 moved to Thorn (current Torun) Split into the reserve and training battalions on 1 October 1942. On 15 October 1942 these became corresponding grenadier battalions. The reserves went back to Deutsche Krone. The trining battalion was anihilated in January 1945, in Torun.

For those who may not know what a German Army Ersatz battalion was, each infantry regiment which took to the field at the beginning of the war left behind at its home station a battalion cadre bearing its own number and known as its Ersatz battalion. The primary purpose of this battalion was to receive recruits, train them, and dispatch them as replacements to the field regiments.
