Don't wish to sound harsh, but definetly not, they are crude forgeries.

Real ones are a thing of beauty and very well executed.

That's what I was afraid of because they were in fact crude for a specimen - what threw me was the Specimen overprint - I appreciate the info any idea on the forgery who made it etc.

I'll say!
They are striking. Beautiful stamps.

Always have been curious as to her earrings,
they seem to hang from her hair, rather than her ears.
I could find no reference to these in research,
just the diamond and pearl earrings (shorter)
that hung from her ears on hooks (the fashion at the time)

Perhaps a device to have her visage appear slender and elongated,
as her lips, being tiny and pouty, again, the style of
portraiture of the time.

Robson Lowe says that Fournier is the one responsible. But he sold forgeries made by others, too. Klaseboer (and I, for what little that is worth) think it was the Senf Brothers, who overprinted most of their lithographed "creations", meant to be spacefillers, with SPECIMEN, FACSIMILE, or even FALSCH. Some of their productions have the words worked into the stamp design.
