While the Missing "I" cards have been shown and discussed in several SCF threads, the question below has not been addressed nor answered.

The postal card mint and used:

The Question:

What position or positions did this Missing "I" flaw appear on the uncut press sheets of 40 (four across and ten down)?

Electrotype plate position 23 in one of the panes of 40 cards according to the footnote in the UPSS catalog.

First of all, thank you for the information. I need to unearth my UPSS catalog or buy a new one. It was packed for a move and remains still packed.

in one of the panes of 40 cards

That prompts the next question.

If one of the panes of 40, then how many panes of 40 were printed on a full press sheet before being cut to panes of 40? Two (80 images) four (160 images) or more (lots of images)?

Missing "I" variety was from chrome plated electrotype plates. Perhaps the article in Postal Stationery, MAR-APR 2002, pgs 42-44 addresses that issue? Reference is from the UPSS catalog.
