Hey guys,

I'm new here and know only a little about stamps. I have been asked to see if I can find out any info on the the stamps pictured, and if they have any value.

I've found it in the 2009 Hibernian Handbook ref. c205. My one seems to be a misprint, where the text details such as the Éire, number 6, and 'European Golf - Killarney 1975' text is missing. It also seems off register. I have also included an image from a magazine on how it should look. There are also two B&W proofs(?) with it.

I'd appreciate it if anyone could provide some help, or even point me in a direction where I might find its value.

Thanks in advance,
H.Grüber

Welcome to SCF!.

You could try sending an image of the "black missing" item to the publisher of the Hibernian Handbook, to see if he will give an opinion. His address and e-mail are listed on the title page of the catalogue.

It may be printer's waste recovered from a paper pulping machine in 1976. See note in 2020 Hibernian following number 104C.

Hi NSK. I don't have that edition. Can you tell me what it says? No problem if that's not allowed.

Thanks.

Examples of C199-C202 and C205 with shifted or missing colours and/or misperforated, originate from printer's waste recovered from a paper pulping machine in 1976. The note further points out they are without gum and cannot be considered to have been issued in a regular manner.
Mint examples exist, but they have been re-gummed.

The 2020 Hibernian will be the last edited by Roy Hamilton-Bowen. The listings of definitives are much better than before, errors have been corrected, and new information, especially on the overprints, has been added.

Thanks so much for that NSK. I'll email Roy Hamilton-Bowen and see what he thinks about the ones I have. I'll also look into acquiring that Hibernian 2020 edition.

Cheers.
