This is a cool set with Godzilla and Gamera! I prefer the older versions of these monsters though. |

This one I think was very poorly done. The actual stamp is awesome and a super classic poster but the images around it on the sheet are ridiculous and out of place. Lazy lazy lazy design. I still want it though haha! |

I recognise "Untraman" in your first souvenir sheet. He was my son's favourite whilst living in Thailand. He had the suit, the works. |

Thanks for sharing, LadyGrace! I'm also a big fan of kaijű-eiga. When they had Godzillafest at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco back in 2004, I bought my festival pass as soon as they went on sale at the box office, so I got pass #1. I have the first two Japanese panes that you posted in my own "Random Stuff That I Like" collection. Note that you already have a stamp of Heisei-era Gamera (1999) in the "Japanese Movie II" pane — which gets bonus points from me for including a stamp of Hiroko Yakushimaru in Sailor Suit and Machine Gun! |

Thanks for this, too, more to add to my list. Interesting that Honda gets put on the same issues as Kurosawa (well, why not?). Godzilla and Seven Samurai were released in the same year, but Kagemusha in the same souvenir sheet with stamps for Honda is about the same to me as using a bunch of dinosaurs for the movie poster souvenir sheet.
GINO (Godzilla in name only) leaves me cold, but the equivalent with Gamera in a mini-Mohawk is something I need to catch up on. We now need Matango (Attack of the Mushroom People) and Battle Royale stamps! |

I am not aware of the finer points here Was "Untraman" (Ultraman) created by Honda? "Seven Samurai" in my list of top 10 films of all time. (Seiji Miyaguchi the master swordsman won my best actor) Mifune did, later in "Hell in the Pacific" with Lee Marvin. I still have a full collection of "Monkey Magic" Strange addiction to Japanese cinema. It must have been hilarious on set. |

Quote: Godzilla and Seven Samurai were released in the same year They were even made by the same studio (Toho). Quote: Was "Untraman" (Ultraman) created by Honda? No. Ultraman ( Urutoraman) was created by Eiji Tsuburaya, who was the special effects director for the original 1954 Godzilla ( Gojira) and several of the sequels. Honda directed five episodes of the 1971–72 TV series, Return of Ultraman, which was produced by Tsuburaya Productions (Tsuburaya himself had already died in 1970). |

To clarify I only have the sets that I included in the post. The ones I posted in the comments are just on my wish list.
I'm far from an expert on the subject but I'm learning! I don't think I've actually seen Ultraman yet but It seems a lot of people like that series so I'll have to give it a shot!
I was watching King Kong vs Godzilla yesterday.
FYI they have tons of the Godzilla movies free on YouTube right now! |
