(I thought LaoPhil had a page for Laos covers - could not find it?)

I don't think I shared this before.

(Some info from the link)
Xépôn (also known as Tchepone and Sepon), is a village in the Seponh District of Savannakhet Province, Laos.

During the 1950s, the French military built a military airfield near Xépôn.

The Royal Lao Army ceased defending the airfield in 1961, and it fell into North Vietnamese hands.

The site of Old Xépôn (Xépôn Kao in Laotian) has few remains.

Gold was discovered near Xépôn by Conzinc Riotinto of Australia/Rio Tinto Group in 1993.

Fourteen villages directly within the core mine zone had been relocated.

Great cover with a very rare postmark. I collect Lao postmarks for two decades and still don't have postmark from Tchepon from the Kingdom period. My only Sepone postmark is a modern one from 1998:

Now, I haven't any page in SCF for lao covers. The only thread about Lao philately is the one for the engraved stamps. I try to add covers to the posts in addition to the engraved stamps:

All my covers and other Lao items were posted in other stamp forum.

I think I shared Cambobia and Laos covers with you many years ago on that "other" forum.
I'll have to dig them up to share here.
Thanks,
Pat

LaoPhil:

Here are those two covers I mentioned. One Cambodian, one Laotian.

Interesting history on Tom Dooley and the Foundation on the internet.

(From the NY Times July 1, 1973)
"The Thomas A. Dooley Foundation has signed a contract with the Cambodian Government to supply medical and professional aid to Cambodia.
The contract, the San Francisco#8208;based foundation's first venture in Cambodia, involves a day#8208;care center staffed by airline stewardesses and al medical laboratory in Phnom Penh and the air drop of medical supplies into, four towns surrounded by Communist forces."
