Rod, This is likely a promotion for, or souvenir from, a particular stamp event. The text "2. Internationaler Briefmarken Händler Tag" translates roughly as 2nd International Stamp Dealers' Day. The "V.B.B. e.V." is a reference to the Vereins Bayerischer Briefmarken e.V. (Bavarian Stamp Association e.V.), which sponsored or put-on the event. In Germany, e.V. is the abbreviation for "eingetragener Verein", meaning an association that's legally registered with the government. And finally, "München" = Munich. Not from my collection, but here's a postcard advertising the same. |

Fabulous, thanks Postmaster, saved. Confirming the Bavarian C.O.A, Lions Rampant with split tails. (The Postcard could almost be read in error as 1927) |

Nice cinderellas! Using the pastel colors and letting the white paper serve as the highlights creates a nice image. |

Rod, That cancel is listed in Bochmann as Steinheid 1. The Bochmann catalog I'm using only covers up to the mid-1950s, so it might be listed differently in versions covering later years. Catalog entry links to a larger version. The text translates as "Summer Resort / Winter Sports / 868 m / Christmas tree decorations". The catalog entry also contains a note that the cancel contains a fir branch with candle and glass balls. The catalog entry shows usage up to 1955, but's only because that's the catalog cut-off. It's known to have been used until at least 1964. Here's a full sample. |
