What a wonderful monograph there, Postmaster. The Devil is in the detail. I just bought one on a whim, for $2.60 Mine will be definitely embossed. It is not the crude cinderella, but no doubt one of the reprints. I look forward to testing for wmk and teeth guaging when it arrives. I had no idea of its history Thank you. |

Rod,
If you've got a photo, I can probably tell you which one it is without you needing to measure the perfs, etc. |

Postmaster, it is from my dealer, the image is piddly but I'll send you the link. I doubt even your Eagle eye could discern Looks like the German Collectors Community piece. if it has "Nachdruck" (Reprint) on back, I shall be disappointed my dealer did not include that in the listing. But we shall see. He is usually very reliable.Oops! I see only printed once, front of block. |

Rod,
It is indeed the reprint for the 1938 Exhibition of the German Collectors Community. That's the hardest of the reprints to find.
As to how you can tell:
1. The 1938's were the only ones printed imperf. 2. It can't be the 1975 printing because those have a tiny "1975" at center bottom. 3. The print quality is too good to be a 1955 reprint. The text on the 1955's is much less defined.
Judging by the large right margin and the dot after the "Y" in "COMPANY", probably position 8 from the sheetlet of 12. |

Hello I want some help whith this stamp from Hamburg. I don't think this is a cancellation, but I am not sure. I can read the fünf (five) and I guess there comes the word Pfennig. If this is correct, it means that this stamp from 1865 was used after 1875, when the Mark and Pfennig were introduced? Does anyone has a better knowledge? Thanks! |

Thanks vayolene, My youngest son recently threw together some German stamps, in his interest, he noticed they didn't look like most of the other cancellations, I don't have many German resources (not really a interest of mine) to answer him properly… I tried to google what I could after looking threw threads here. Would the fourth one be considered a "three line box railroad" cancellation? and Is there any reason the Leipzig would be faked? |

Klauskla,
I read "funf y funfzig" so that means 55 followed by a signature.
Most probably fiscal use

Thank you vayolene and johan! If his interest continues to grow I'll have to invest in some catalogue's for Germany. He's young so could be a passing thing, I'm just trying to answer his questions for now. Thank you again! |
