This is Scott 72a, ACSC 107 which was issued starting in February 1928. I couldn't find any variety indications, but was more interested in the Cancellation. Can I have some help from our Aussie friends?

It appears to be cancelled

Wattle Tree Road
Vic
11 DE ?8 (Probably 1928)

I find reference to a Wattletree Road in Malvern, but no town named Wattle Tree Road. All help/comments would be appreciated.

There is only 1 Wattletree Road
of my database of 20,000

Wattle Tree does not exist, apart from your Hammer
Mistake of otherwise, when hammer made.

The hammer names are of discrete Post Offices, not necessarily towns.

Wattle Tree : Acacia pycnantha (Golden Wattle)
is the Australian National emblem.

If I get within 2 meters, when blooming, eyes stream, I get a fit of sneezing,
then Asthma.
