Good morning mottaz, the halfpenny stamp with perfin "LRO" possibly relates to "Lloyd's register of shipping".

I have noticed some of these for sale on ebay.

The SLOPER records leger lists the perfin only as LR but the LRO found on your stamp could have been an alternative.

The adds on ebay indicate that this is probably the case. WM

Hi mottaz,

Lloyd's Register of Shipping used a number of similar LR/O and LR perfins over the years.

There were at least three different LR/O perfins, two with 7,11/10 patterns and this one here with 7,12/10.

This one was used in the period 1885 to 1930.

The Gault GB Catalogue lists it as number 4810.03M, and the full "Ident" name is:

Lloyd's Register of British & Foreign Shipping,
71 Fenchurch St,
London EC3.
