Hello

A friend of mine is stumped trying to identify a stamp..




It appears to be a US 1283B (redrawns Washington), tagged, with bureau precancel

Scott doesn't explicitly list a tagged version with precancel, only an untagged.

Was the tagged version issued with precancel as well??

The stamp you show is a LOCAL precancel, rather than a Bureau-print. Thus printed on tagged stock at the Madison PO.
