All over the world you will find the element Au 'GOLD', in some areas you can actually pick small pieces up off the ground.

Here is the largest nugget ever found nicknamed "The Welcome Stranger", discovered in Victoria, Australia in 1869.

River beds past and present are one of the more likely places to find this heavy element, known as alluvial gold which appears to be more common and available for the everyday prospector.

Another method is hard rock mining where the ore has to be crushed and washed for the gold to be obtained.......
