Israelis were very jittery towards the end of 1973, as several letter bombs had been intercepted: https://www.nytimes.com/1973/11/29/...wo-days.html

Here is a letter posted in London in December 1973 to my daughter in Netanya, Israel. On the reverse is a sticker from the Israel Post Office explaining why the letter was opened and reclosed.

US letter to UK, December 1940. "Examined" (= censored?). It was sent to a refugee living with my parents in the house where I was born! I was then just over 3 months old.

Rather battered letter from my uncle in British army, stationed in Egypt, January 1941. Triangular censor cancellation.

The back of the last letter sent on behalf of my uncle, a prisoner of war in the British Army hospital in Athens, operating under German army supervision. He died of wounds on May 15th 1941. The letter was sent to his parents, presumably by the Red Cross. It has the German army censor's sticker on the back (Geöffnet = Opened), as well as their cancellation mark.

Israeli Army Post, sent by me to my wife, while I was on reserve duty around 1974-1977. The red sticker says that it was opened by the Army Censor (their circular cancellation 09).
The triangular army postmark (1364) belonged to my unit.
As of writing (2024) there is no longer an Israeli Army postal service, as no-one sends letters any longer.

Thank you Barbour for posting your cover. I am in the UK and specialise in collecting the triangular army postmarks. I have a massive collection and database of all the numbers. I have added this to my records as I have not seen 1364 previously. I published my data in A Catalogue of Israel's Triangular Military Unit Handstamps in 2012.This catalogue outlines the history of this particular type of postmark used by Israel's armed forces. Consolidating previous works on KBA (Land Security Forces) postmarks, this publication then portrays the evolution of the triangular handstamp to recent times. Includes color illustrations of the types of cover used as well as a list of military unit numbers.
My list has increased since 2012 and I am always looking for similar covers both to check/improve my database and my collection, so will be happy to see lists of numbers etc to check.
