Here are two blocks of 6 of the 1939 6d "express delivery" stamp. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Apparently these stamps are more difficult to obtain fine used than in mint condition, due to the fact that this service was cancelled in December 1941 because of wartime conditions. These two blocks appear to have been specially cancelled in order to satisfy collectors....... Issued on the 16th of August 1939..... Quantities printed 240,000. |

A 3d block of six KGV from Australia (first watermark), with a rather uncommon (maybe New Zealand) "WN" double-ringed, decoratively encircled cancel, one I've never seen before. Likely the letter or parcel sporting this block was not cancelled in Australia. I love these older, classic stamps in blocks/multiples. Preferably used! |
